Floating ball valves are a type of quarter-turn valve that play a pivotal role in fluid control systems across various industries. They derive their name from the floating ball mechanism, which is not fixed in place but instead "floats" within the valve body. This design allows the ball to seal against two seats, providing tight shut-off when the valve is closed. The sealing action occurs as the upstream pressure presses the ball against the downstream seat, ensuring a leak-proof closure.

These valves are known for their versatility and reliability, supporting a wide range of operating conditions such as varying temperatures (-196°C to 200°C or more), pressures (ASME Class 150 - 2500), and media types including water, oil, steam, and other fluids. Constructed with materials like stainless steel, carbon steel, castings, or aluminum alloys, they can withstand corrosion and wear over time.

Available in one-piece Uni-body, two-piece split body, or three-piece forged steel designs, floating ball valves comply with international standards like API 6D, BS 5351, and others, ensuring compatibility and safety in different applications. Additionally, they can be equipped with manual levers, gearboxes, electric actuators, or pneumatic actuators for precise and efficient operation, making them a popular choice for process plants, pipelines, and industrial settings where dependable flow control is essential.
